The History

Built in approximately 1670, the White House (previously known as Haswell House) is a grade II listed building located in the heart of Epsom. As can be seen by the plaque near the front door, the building has also been residence to some distinguished royals. Circa 1800, George Prince of Wales (later King George IV) and his illegitimate wife Maria Fitzherbert lived in the property until he became King.

Following the stay of the Prince Regent and Ms Fitzherbert, the house was occupied by other tenants such as the historian Sharon Turner and artists Sir Charles and Lady Frances Holroyd.

In the early 1900s, the property was taken over by solicitors Theodore Bell & Co where they continued to run their firm until they formed a partnership with Gumersalls vacating the premises and relocating in November 2019.

The property continued to remain vacant until it was purchased by its current owner in December 2021, and over the following 18 months this old lady was lovingly renovated, restored and brought back to life.

We now feel very privileged to present the White House to you in its new capacity of housing the White House Health and Wellness Centre and hope you love it as much as we do.
